High School at Its Best!

I teach a 15:1 9th grade ELA class and they love the new materials we received. The SEL calming strips and fidget toys have been very helpful to students that have a hard time focusing. I have had too spend a lot less time on re-focusing prompts and more time on actually teaching. One student had recently lost their grandmother and the art sketchbook was a wonderful distraction for them when readjusting back into a school routine. I proudly display my book on inclusion in my bookcase and have a lot of students stop my my desk to read parts of it.

We just finished a unit on Of Mice and Men and did visual presentations that represented the relationship between George and Lennie and their vision of the American Dream. The students made beautiful colorful depictions thanks to the brand new markers and colored pencils received from our donors. This has been their favorite collaborative project to date. All of the new things have added to the safe and welcoming learning environment that I look to facilitate.”
