Stress Management for High School Students

Funded Sep 9, 2024

My students have been making great use of my laptop and mouse as resources to de-stress during class. With the mouse, they can easily navigate to calming rain sounds, instrumental music, or other relaxing audio, creating a soothing environment that helps them unwind and refocus. The tactile interaction of using the mouse adds a grounding element, giving them a sense of control as they select what works best for them. This combination of tools has turned our classroom into a haven where they can step away from the pressures of schoolwork and daily life to recharge in a meaningful way.

Beyond just listening to sounds, my students use the mouse to explore guided meditations, mindfulness exercises, and other interactive tools for mental health. The simple act of clicking through resources teaches them to pause, process their emotions, and center themselves. By incorporating both the laptop and mouse into these practices, they're developing a hands-on approach to stress management that feels personal and accessible. It's inspiring to see how this small addition to their routine has improved not only their focus in class but also their ability to build lifelong mental health habits.”
