The moment we introduced the new materials, their faces lit up with curiosity and excitement. Some students immediately gravitated toward the textured mats, running their hands across the different surfaces, while others found comfort in the chew tools, helping them self-regulate and focus during lessons.
One of my students has been using the cuddle ball in our break area to calm down when feeling overwhelmed. She holds onto it while reading a related social story, which helps her process her emotions and transition back to learning with greater ease.
We are now incorporating these resources into daily activities—using the textured writing boards for pre-writing practice, sensory enriched toys to increase engagement, and fidget tools to help with transitions between activities.
