Full Steam Ahead!
Funded Dec 21, 2022My students were thrilled when they saw the new Lego Duplo sets. As soon as they arrived, the class could hardly wait to use them. They had a great time trying out the different activities and using the people figures. They were learning about STEAM concepts and social-emotional development while they were playing. The students were so excited to learn new concepts and experiment with all of the different elements of the Duplo set. I heard a lot of "oohs" and "ahs" as they were working. They didn't want to put them away when it was time to go home! Thank you so much for your generosity!”

A Solid Plan to Shape Up Geometry
Funded Dec 1, 2021My students love being able to touch and explore the solid shapes. Students are able to explore the attributes of each shape independently, and this leads to richer discussions with partners and for the whole class, as well as a deeper understanding of mathematics.
Students are so excited to know that each of them has their own set of shapes to support tactile learning. Before we received our new sets of shapes, I had one set that I used as a model, but students did not have their own shapes. Learning is so much more powerful when students have their own materials to spur enthusiasm and support understanding.
We are currently studying two-dimensional flat shapes and three-dimensional solid shapes, so these new materials directly support students' learning and understanding of geometry. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded Jul 23, 2021Thank you so much for supporting my project and making flexible seating a reality in my classroom! My students use the flexible seating options every day when they are in class. Just the other day, I noticed a student sitting on one of the wobble chairs. She was moving all over on her wobble chair, but she was completely focused on the lesson. She needed to move her body to keep her focus on the lesson, and that is exactly why I wanted to provide flexible seating options for my students. Each student needs a seating option that meets their needs and helps them to focus on instruction instead of on sitting still.
My students were eager to try the various flexible seating options available due to the generosity of Donors Choose supporters. The all wanted to experience sitting in different types of chairs. They loved all of the bright colors, too. By now, most students have figured out which type of seating works best for them and which options do not suit their needs. Giving students options for seating has helped them to take charge of their learning and their focus in class.
Seeing how successful flexible seating options have been in my classroom this year, I hope to be able to provide a larger variety of seating options in the future. I would like to express my gratitude to the Donors Choose community and to everyone who donated to my project to make flexible seating options a reality in my classroom. You have made a positive impact on the educational experience of my kindergarten students. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. H.
