Reading Circle Project
Funded Sep 28, 2024Your contributions have made an immense impact on the mental health of my students as they pursued their self-guided Reading Circle Project, in which they choose a book to read from a list provided by the teacher.
This project required a lot of independent reading, which means that students needed an environment which was conducive to such efforts. The rug, helped contribute to such an environment, and several students commented that this was their "favorite classroom" to do work in. Furthermore, the resource bins allowed students to independently identify the resources they needed for their project and use them without the teacher's support. Finally, the posters helped students improve their writing by serving as visual reminders of the rules of grammar and syntax. The contributions from donors have made an impact beyond what I could have originally imagined.”
With gratitude,

Funded Oct 9, 2024Your contributions have made an immense impact on the mental health of my students as they pursued their self-guided Lyrical Lecture Project, in which they analyzed the literary elements of a song of their choosing.
This project required a lot of independent research, which means that students needed an environment which was conducive to such efforts. The plants, rug, and hyrdoponic fish tank helped contribute to such an environment, and several students commented that this was their "favorite classroom" to do work in. Furthermore, certain items, like the broom and dustpan, which did not elicit a major reaction from students when they first entered the classroom, have created a virtuous cycle in classroom behavior, with student volunteers contributing to maintaining the classroom environment when it gets messy. The contributions from donors have made an impact beyond what I could have originally imagined.
Soon enough, students will be starting a reading circle project in which they get to choose what they are going to read from a list of texts. Your donations will continue to make a positive impact as they embark on this new unit!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Bartiromo
