Special Math Journals for Fourth Grade Mathematicians
Funded Aug 12, 2019Thank you for providing our students with beautiful math journals! Three Fourth Grade classrooms are using, and loving, their math journals every day. These journals have become an essential resource for our students.
They are a space for students to solve complex word problems and describe their strategies using models, equations, and sentences. In addition to problem solving, we use our journals to capture our learning so that we can return to it as a reference later in the year. We have journaled about symmetry, factors, prime and composite numbers, and multiplication and division strategies. It is a true joy to see students break out their reference pages whenever they need a refresher. They even use their journals as tools to teach each other, opening them up and sharing their thinking in partnerships when a peer needs extra support.
When we first introduced our new journals, they were met with ohs and ahs by all they students. They begged us to bring them home to decorate, and later to share their thinking with their families. We look forward to continuing to grow our math brains with the help of our beautiful journals. Thank you!”

We Need Ice!
Funded Jul 31, 2019This donation may seem simple, but it is has supported our schools in so many ways! Our school only has nurse one day a week, which means that our lovely admin secretary has to also make room in your schedule for all the bumps, bruises and cuts that come her way with 500 students. The extra time it took her to make the ice daily took her away from her actual job. The time the ice maker saves our front office is adding up by the day. Now with the ice maker, any one can stop into the nurse's office and grab ice and we can all go along with our day. Thanks so much for making this purchase happen! It will continue to help students and staff for years to come.”
