  • iPads for Learning!

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our Donors Choose project for an iPad and iPad case. The students were so excited when the new iPad came. We were able to get it hooked up to our district wifi and to get educational apps installed on it. We have recently been using the iPad to do research for our Informational Text writing unit. The iPad has been very handy for fact checking and has enabled the students to write about a wide range of topics. Thank you again for your thoughtful donation towards our iPad project. We appreciate your support!”

  • Flexible Seating Stools!

    Funded Jan 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards the stools for our classroom. We were able to receive a new kidney shaped table through Donors Choose but did not have any seats to go around it. Dragging chairs over was a noisy and time consuming affair. Now because of you, we have adorable black stools for our new table. The students love the stools. They are functional, stackable, and pleasing to look at! We are so grateful for your support and thoughtfulness for our first grade classroom!”

  • Activity Table Needed!

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our activity table. The table has arrived and it is beautiful. It is just the right size for our classroom. The students were so excited when it came. They kept going up to the table and touching the shiny surface. They could not wait to sit at it.

The table has already been used for small group writing instruction during our ELL push in time. It has also been used for small group reading and math activities.

The table has been a wonderful addition to our classroom. Thank you so much for your contribution!”

  • iPads for All Learners!

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. We have truly enjoyed using the new iPads this school year. The students are able to grab them whenever they have free time and practice their math facts through the Xtra Math app. The students also enjoy using the iPads as a behavioral incentive. They cash in Dojo points to earn "free" iPad time at the end of the day. This has become a coveted prize.

It is not just the students who benefit from these iPads. I am able to take photos and upload them to my district Google Share account and then send the link to parents using our Parent Square App, all through the iPads! The iPads have helped make it easier for me to communicate with parents. The parents have loved seeing their students in action at school.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Student Friendly Seating

    Funded Oct 29, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our project. The students absolutely love the sit cushions. They enjoy the fun colors and sitting on them for stories. They use them to move around the room to do work. They especially like using them to work together on a puzzle on the floor. The cushions are of such good quality and so easy to clean. They are a wonderful alternative to a classroom carpet, especially since we are not permitted to have carpets because of Covid cleaning protocols. My students and I truly thank you for your generosity. I hope to use these cushions for many years to come, with many students.”

  • iPad for the Classroom

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

Thank you so much for your more than generous donation towards our iPad Donor's Choose Project. We were so excited to get the new iPad and protective iPad case in the mail. We set up the iPad right away and added it to our literacy and math center rotations.

Everyday, we use the iPad for an app called Xtra Math. This app practice math fluency with students and tracks their progress. The students go through levels and are rewarded with a certificate and shout out in the classroom news when they pass a new level. This app on the iPad has greatly increased the students' math fluency. We also use the iPad for language arts apps like Starfall.com and Hooked on Phonics. These are great apps to reinforce literacy skills while maintaining the students attention.

I personally use the iPad to communicate with parents through the ClassDojo app. This app allows me to share messages with parents and photos. It is a great behavior management tool, too!

Thank you so much for your donations to our project. We truly appreciate it.”

  • Reading Rug Needed!

    Funded Jan 14, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous and considerate donations to our Donors Choose Project. I so wanted this rug for my classroom, that I also donated to the project. The rug arrived to much excitement of the students. So many of them went home and told their parents that "we got a new rug and it is so cool." The rug matches the classroom decor beautifully and fits perfectly in the book nook reading and instructional area. The students are each assigned a letter on the rug to sit on for instructional time. During buddy reading center, they get to sit wherever they want on the rug and buddy read books. They love being able to lay down on the rug and spread out with a good book. Thank you for allowing the students this opportunity by donating to this project.”

  • iPads for Education

    Funded Jan 3, 2017

Thank you so much for all of your generous donations. My students and I are very grateful for you. We were all so excited when the iPad came in the mail. The students love going to literacy and math centers and their favorite center is of course the iPad center. They love going on Starfall.com and I love that they are having fun while reinforcing phonics and reading skills. During math centers the students love the free Sushi Monster app. I am amazed that some of my students get up to multiplication level, something we have not even covered in math. The iPads provide for both enrichment and remediation; perfect for differentiation!!

We are so grateful for you and the enrichment you have provided for my students.”

  • iPads For Literacy And Social Learning

    Funded Dec 31, 2014

I want to thank all of you for your generous donations. The students love using the iPads. I am so excited to have them, too. The students are now able to go to iPad center during literacy centers. They also love going to iPad center during math centers. I created app folders on the iPads and separated the apps by literacy and math. The students get to choose the apps they want to use during centers. The students love have a say in their learning! The students are also able to use the iPads for "word work" during guided reading. The iPads keep the students focused and engaged.

Thank you again for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blasi

My students are sweet and funny first graders who live in NY on Long Island. Our town was badly affected by Super Storm Sandy. Many homes and businesses are still in the process of rebuilding. Our town is full of hardworking individual who came together in a time of need. Since our whole town missed Halloween, some parents organized a "Trunk or Treating" event around a local park. I came with a trunk full of candy. I loved seeing my students faces light up when they saw me.
