Unlock Tenth Grade Potential! Fund AP History Success!
Funded Sep 20, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation of a class set of AP World History vocabulary cards! My students were thrilled to hear that our project was funded, and we began using the cards as soon as we received them. It was exciting to see the smiles on their faces as they engaged in conversations while using the vocabulary cards for the first time.
Our school is committed to the College Board's goal to broaden access to Advanced Placement curriculum to all motivated students. As a result, the vast majority of my students are enrolled in Advanced Placement for the first time. I am especially proud that over forty percent of our sophomore class enrolled in AP World History, embracing the challenge of a college level class offered in high school. However, for many of them, the rigor of the course and demanding reading assignments came as a surprise. Some struggled with reading entire textbook chapters and analyzing primary sources.
The vocabulary cards you provided have been an invaluable resource, helping me motivate students while also supporting the development of essential skills for improving their reading comprehension. Building students' vocabulary is crucial for both advancing their academic language and their overall learning. In the photos, you can see some of my students quizzing each other as they learn key concepts from the Post-Classical Period in World History. One of their favorite activities is our competitive vocabulary card review game, where a member of one team stands in front of the class and gives clues to help their teammates guess a vocabulary term.
Thank you again for helping my students engage with history and advance their literacy in such a fun and meaningful way!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Morales
