This is a safe space for students to come in and learn music fundamentals and some advanced techniques in order to play music as a cohesive unit. Some students come with little to no experience, while others come with enough experience to play in a band. In this classroom I teach 5 different classes during the school day. Modern Band is just one of them. The others are Advanced Concert Band, Beginning Band, Mariachi, and Orchestra. It is a full music program at Belvedere Middle School and as you can imagine, students go through a lot of the material provided. Modern Band and Orchestra and Mariachi are the programs that go through a lot of accessories such as strings, picks, and reeds. We keep moving forward. The main goal in my class is to teach students how to sight read music and read and write a lead sheet.
