Funded Sep 9, 2024My students and I have been having such a good time with our new class pets and their materials. We have used the resources provided in order to care for our class pets. The students have so far supplied the guinea pigs with treats bought from donor's choose as well as the full cage that sits at the front of our classroom.
My students were ecstatic when they learned that we would be getting a class pet. Many of them volunteered to even babysit and keep the pets outside of school hours. They were intrigued with the giant cage as they anticipated seeing their new furry friends! The first thing that most students say to me when they come to class is not "Good morning" or "Good afternoon", but "Can I hold a guinea pig" instead!
Currently we plan to continue keeping the class pets as we relate them to different science projects. While one has the name DNA and the other named RNA it relates perfect to our biology terms and helps students to also make real world connections.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Williams
