Funded Aug 31, 2024Since receiving the new resources, my students and I have been incorporating them into our daily routine in creative ways. We've been using chocolates as a fun way to energize ourselves and keep spirits high throughout the day, particularly as we push through until December. The chairs have been especially helpful during our mental health sessions, where students can sit comfortably and engage in open discussions. The posters on mental health, especially those focused on anxiety and self-care, have become a regular part of our conversations, serving as visual reminders to prioritize mental well-being.
When my students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. Many expressed their gratitude and joy for being given items that help make mental health a priority in the classroom.
Currently, my students are working on a project aimed at destigmatizing mental health among adolescents. The goal is to not only equip them with the knowledge to take care of their mental health but also empower them to be advocates for mental wellness among their peers.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nelu Abeywardena
