Refrigerator/Microwave for Mental Wellness

When the appliances were delivered the students were surprised. I mean they were like, wow!!! They were like Ms. Holland those are nice. I then explain how these items were received and the kindness of those who donated. When I say surprised, they were surprised because they very rarely see acts of kindness where they live. I told them we will be using the appliances on a daily basis. They were like are you really going to let us use those and I told them of course. We will all use them and maintain the upkeep of the appliances.

Not all students eat the school lunch, so they might have popcorn or noodles. Now with the microwave they can come in and warm up food or pop their popcorn. It is the small things that make a difference in the lives of those who have so little. They also learn the value of maintaining these appliances. This will be done by after each use the person will be responsible for cleaning the microwave, as well as, keeping up with the items stored in the fridge. I believe the students will learn the value of appreciating and keeping things clean and in order.”
