Funded Sep 5, 2024It's hard to quantify the amount of engagement these instruments bring into our classroom. The conga and bongos are in constant use. The shakers, claves and cowbells keep the beat moving all through the school day.
Whether it's because they feel a little good, somewhat down, or are looking for something new to try, having the percussion instruments that allow the students to "bang it out" or create a "vibe" is invaluable. Some kids are experimenting with this and that, while others are particularly drawn to one instrument and are gaining comfort, knowledge and confidence as they come back to it again and again.
Thank you again for the very kind and generous donation that brought these fabulous instruments into our classroom.”

Funded Aug 28, 2024I can't possibly express the level of joy that accompanied the arrival of these instruments. Opening them up was like Christmas for Teachers and Students! We took everything out the boxes put together the xylophone, bongo stands and started jamming! Our classroom has become a haven. Kids are constantly coming in to experiment, play and create amidst days that are often at least a little chaotic.
Here are some things a couple of students said when I asked them about the impact the new instruments; The instruments make us feel that it's safe to play instruments in Poppers room without feeling judged by anyone. It also gives us something to look forward to in the building. We also have the opportunity to learn how to play one or more instruments.”

Popper’s Classroom Fridge Food and Drink for All
Funded Aug 21, 2024Food, drinks, and a fridge to keep them cold and ready. These necessary, but not always as available to my students as they should be items are now an embedded feature of our classroom. As these items were arriving, the kids who had no idea what was coming, were literally jumping for joy. They understand that the food and drinks were donated in order to help them be and stay focused on what they're doing at school and not hung up about how they're hungry and thirsty. We also came to the agreement that eating and drinking cannot get in the way of their school activities. Our classroom is such a welcoming and nurturing space, in part because of the super kind and generous donations from you all. Thank you all so much. Happy kids means happy teacher, means happy kids, means happy world. 🙏”
