We Would Love Some Gym Equipment

Funded Nov 17, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, our students are enjoying the tricycles and balls in our gym. They love the size of them and how they can have one student pedal while another sits down below and rides. I will definitely include a picture for reference. After the boxes arrived, we had a parent volunteer to assemble them. There was a lot of excitement amongst the teachers, especially me. I picked two student to help take them to the gym. With the principal's approval, I let them ride them from the office inside the school out to the gym. My hope was that those students think back on the time when their teacher let them ride a tricycle through the halls of their school. So fun for me!

The balls have created opportunities for student to not only bounce them to each other, but they have gotten quite creative with them. The students like to pretend to be dinosaurs and dragons and the balls are their eggs. The students also have worked to shoot baskets with them as well. When we first got them, only one or two students were able to make a basket. Now, there are quite a few that can get the ball in the hoop. The happiness that they share when they are able to make their first basket is quite contagious. It makes the teachers happy for them as well as other students around them. It causes those students that haven't quite gotten there yet to keep trying and working to get their first basket. It is exciting to see the social emotional growth in all the students. The balls have also created many learning opportunities for sharing and turn taking. After all, there is only one red, purple, yellow, blue or green ball. (We have to use our words to ask if we can play with the student that has the specific ball that we want.) Again, these opportunities were all made possible by your donation.

It has also brought so much joy to me knowing that someone saw my little post and decided to make a donation to some of the youngest little bearcats in our community. I had no idea if anyone would actually see my request, let alone make a donation. When I read that the project was fully funded, I had tears in my eyes. I couldn't believe it. I just want to say Thank You in the biggest way possible! Thank you for donating. Thank you for the happiness that it provided to not just the students, but also the teachers and staff at our school!

Sincerely,”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Levesque
