Easy Bites: An Inclusive Cookbook for Every Student (Fruit, Vegetables)
Funded Dec 2, 2024From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your incredible generosity and belief in this project. Your support has made it possible to create an accessible and inclusive cookbook designed specifically for middle and high school students with disabilities and developmental challenges.
This cookbook is more than just a collection of recipes—it’s a tool for empowerment. By offering simple recipes with basic, easy-to-find ingredients and step-by-step instructions broken into manageable tasks, we aim to help students build independence and self-confidence. For many of our students, this project also addresses practical needs, providing guidance on managing finances and creating meals with what they have available, which is especially important for those from low-income households.
Beyond cooking, this resource is about life skills—teaching labeling, math, grocery shopping, following directions, hygiene, fire safety, and the safe use of household items. The ultimate goal is to help students generalize what they learn in the classroom and apply it in their personal lives, empowering them and their families to take confident steps toward greater self-sufficiency.
As a second-year speech-language therapist, I am deeply moved by the kindness of donors like you, who believe in our students and their potential. Your willingness to take a chance on this project means the world to me and the students we serve. We’re excited to share updates with you, including pictures of the final product, and to show the tangible impact your generosity has made.
Thank you for being an essential part of this journey.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Chloe
