Project Fun: Let's Get Those Kids Talking
Funded Dec 4, 2024I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your incredibly generous support. The materials and snacks you provided have already made such a difference in my classroom. The sensory toys, like the kinetic sand, Play-Doh, and chair straps, have been fantastic in helping the kids stay calm and focused, whether they're waiting their turn or listening.
The farm animals and barn have been a huge hit! We've used them for everything from storytelling to teaching words like "on," "in," and "on top," and they've even helped with fine motor skills through actions like opening and closing. The snacks have also been a great incentive for students, especially when they finish working through long assessments.
When the students see something new, their excitement is contagious! It's been amazing to see how much their language has grown, too. For example, one student said, "The dinosaur is going to invade the farmhouse!" When they ask for something, we're encouraging them to form longer, more grammatically correct sentences like, "I want to play with the red farm."
The variety of toys has really allowed me to meet each student's individual interests—whether they're into smashing Play-Doh or exploring magnets—and I've been able to tailor lessons to be more child-led, which has been so rewarding.
Looking ahead, we'll keep working on expanding their sentences with adjectives, prepositions, and adverbs, and help them articulate sounds more clearly through motivating play. Ultimately, I hope this work will help them build confidence, not just for this year, but to carry them forward into the next grade and beyond.
I can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. Your support truly makes a difference in their learning.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Fischer
