Teen Living: Knife Safety & More!

Funded Sep 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in providing our classroom with new kitchen items and practice tools. When the boxes arrived, the students were immediately (and slightly annoyingly) abuzz with excitement, asking to help me unbox pots, pans, and gadgets. One student asked, "Are we making pancakes today?" Their enthusiasm was only matched by their growing anxiety as they realized, "Wait, we're actually going to have to use these... correctly?"

Your contributions are not just gifts—they're investments in our students' futures. In our Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum, these tools will play a vital role in preparing them for adulthood. Over the next few weeks, we'll dive into a unit on kitchen safety, learn to identify tools and equipment, and master kitchen measurement techniques. These lessons are the building blocks for independence, confidence, and—who knows?—maybe a future chef or two!

From the bottom of my heart (and from the students, who are now debating the difference between a skillet and a frying pan while trying to convince me that they do, indeed, know how to cook), thank you for empowering them with the skills to cook, create, and thrive. These new resources will help us turn curiosity into competence and anxiety into achievement.”

With gratitude,

Mr. Nick
