Light Up for Learning: Touch Lights for Self-Regulation and Exploration
Funded Oct 23, 2024Thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to my project so I could get new materials for my classroom. The students were immediately drawn to the bright lights and started engaging with the item right away. They used their hands to explore and learn how to change the colors.
Some of my special education friends have impulsive and reckless behaviors. The touch lights help calm their body and mind so they can learn and make safe choices.
We also received a body part felt activity. I have a bilingual student, and my classroom is focused on children with very low language skills. This item has been instrumental in helping my kids identify and name their body parts- a vital skill which increases their safety and autonomy. The children strengthen their fine motor muscles as they pull off and put on the velcro pieces.
I additionally chose a fun and brightly-illustrated book called I am Water. We used this material as part of our water unit. It was such a great book that I also shared it with a coworker.
Thank you for keeping my classroom in mind when you chose to donate to my project. Hopefully with good stewardship, we will continue to use these materials for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Emily
Staying Sharp with Some New School Swag
Funded Dec 23, 2024THANK YOU! As I lead a Special Education classroom focused on low-language skills, access to creative and
open-ended play activities is a necessity. Rich, multi-sensory materials will spark curiosity, create opportunities for communication, and give way to big ideas. I treasure your willingness to help us grow.”

Help Our Class Find Its Balance: Fund a Beam
Funded Aug 2, 2024Thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to my project so I could get new materials for my classroom. The children were so excited when they walked in for Open House night and saw the brightly- colored balance beam and liquid floor tiles. Even the parents couldn't resist stepping on them to make the liquid change and move.
I have a student who is in physical therapy and has significant balance issues as well as weak muscle strength. The balance beam has been instrumental in helping him learn how to navigate school and home, and helping learn to step up or over various obstacles.
We play a matching game with colored beanbags that we throw onto the tiles. This activity helps develop gross motor, language, and math skills.
Many of my special education friends have struggles with self-control and self-regulation. The balance beam helps calm them down and regain their focus.
Thank you for keeping my classroom in mind when you chose to donate to my project. Hopefully with good stewardship, we will continue to use these materials for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Emily
