Funded Sep 18, 2024When I presented the series of books donated for the first time to our classroom they were so amazed and interested in the variety of the book topics. A couple of students read the title "La Havana" and mentioned "Hey, I have heard of the Havana in the song!". The students were so excited to see the books were bilingual since bilingual resources are in general very limited.
We are so grateful for your support via these literacy resources! We are utilizing these resources in multiple ways. For example, the students work at a small-center in our library station. The students love to read the books and complete reading activities that go along with them!
In addition, we love to use these books for the read-alouds. The students have found each one of the books donated. The books being bilingual allow students to utilize their multilingual repertoire to read and write. Also, these books being culturally diverse allow students to seem themselves and others represented.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Serna
