Bringing 3D Printing to Life: Empowering Students

Funded Aug 1, 2024

Thanks to your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a hub of innovation and creativity. With the addition of 3D printers, our students have been able to take their engineering elective to the next level. We are currently engaged in hands-on projects like building LEGO robots and designing bridges, and the 3D printers have opened up new possibilities for designing custom parts and components that complement their builds. This technology allows them to think like engineers and inventors, bringing their ideas to life in a tangible way.

The most exciting aspect of the 3D printers is how it allows students to fully immerse themselves in the design process. They can sketch out their ideas, create prototypes, and then watch those designs become physical models. The ability to create parts that help with their robots or strengthen their bridges makes the projects feel more personalized and connected to real-world applications. Students have embraced this technology with enthusiasm—many of them, who previously weren't as interested in STEM, are now fully engaged because they see the immediate impact of their work.

Some students have especially taken to 3D printing as a way to push their learning beyond the classroom. One student, who had never worked with technology like this before, has started designing custom gears for their robot, allowing for greater movement and functionality. Seeing them apply problem-solving skills and develop confidence with each successful print has been inspiring. These printers have truly revolutionized our approach to STEM education, making it more hands-on, engaging, and empowering for every student.

Thank you again for your support. The impact of these resources will be felt in our classroom for years to come.”

With gratitude,
