The titles I'm requesting are all part of our county's Battle of the Books series. The books vary in their lexile level. Some of the higher level books are very difficult to read and comprehend (even for my advanced readers). To combat my students quitting on the Battle competition, I would like to conduct book studies with them in a small group setting. The amount of copies I am requesting allow my students to have individual copies. I will be using the one copy our class already has. I will be reading the titles WITH the students and discussing the stories to ensure comprehension. These book studies will be conducted before school, during our reading intervention time and also after school, as needed. After this year's Battle we will be donating several of the copies to the library so more than just my students will benefit from the donation of books.
