Mr. Nguyen's Classroom Wishlist
Funded Aug 19, 2024Thank you for your donations that helped me build my dream classroom. My students and I appreciate everything that was given to us and we have been using these supplies almost daily in the classroom. When they first saw the materials, they were all ecstatic and shocked that people donated things for them. They said things such as "wow I can't believe we get all this" and "this classroom is so beautiful now"! I have even heard parents telling me that they love coming to school because the classroom is so fun and inviting, so thank you for helping me accomplish that.
The first thing I wanted to point out was the campfire rug that was given to me. This provided a place for the students to sit when they read books near my classroom library. I like that it's a picture of a campfire because it gives off a warm and homey feeling you get when you go camping with your family and I want to provide that same sense of feeling for my students when they come to school. My students also really enjoy the jellyfish lamp and it was one of the things they were most excited about. Since we can't have a real class pet in our class, we decided the jellyfish lamp would be our class pet and the students have named them Bluey and Pinkey. The math games have made learning multiplication and division fun because they're not restricted to worksheets and homework to practice their math skills. The wobble stools provide my student with flexible seating if it helps them focus. And lastly, the pencil sharpeners allow me to have three different areas where the students can go to sharpen their pencils. This saves time and crowdiness since I only had one pencil sharpener before I got these donations.
Moving forward, I want to see see how else I can implement the materials in different ways. For example, the math games can become a station in the future for small group instruction time. The pencil sharpeners can become a class job to teach them responsibility and the what happens if the pencil sharpeners are filled or runs out of batteries. I want to be more intentional with the supplies so the students would grow more appreciate towards it rather than just see it as something that was handed to them. If they appreciate it more, they would feel more responsibility to take care of it for the next group of students who would follow them once they leave my class. Once again, I appreciate all the donations. My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Nguyen
