  • Creating a Calming Corner

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

Thank you for your support of our calming corner. Your contributions have made a positive difference in our classroom. When I first introduced the calming corner, my students were very excited and curious to explore this new space. The bean bag chairs have been a great hit! The cozy seating and sensory tools provide an opportunity for students to reset, and allow them to return to the class with a clear mindset. It has become a great space for my students to learn how to manage their emotions and practice self regulation. I'm excited to see how my students continue to develop these crucial skills, which will support them not only in school but in all areas of their lives. Thank you for your support in my students' well being. You have created a supportive, and safe space that has already been making a big difference.”

  • Bringing Learning to Life With Color Printing

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of colored ink. It has made a tremendous difference in our classroom, and I'm excited to share how it has helped enhance our students' learning experiences.

One of the key ways I have utilized the colored ink is to print out math practice standards for my kindergarten students. These color-coded materials have allowed us to create vibrant, visually engaging worksheets that break down math concepts in a clear, accessible way. The colors help them quickly identify the most important aspects of each practice, reinforcing their understanding and keeping them engaged with the material.

In our fall unit on the life cycle of a pumpkin, the colored ink allowed me to print out the pictures of the life cycle that visually illustrated each stage of growth—from seed to sprout to mature pumpkin. These bright, colorful visuals helped make the concept more tangible for students, and they were able to connect the stages they were learning about in class to the real pumpkin we observed. Using color really brought the lesson to life, making it easier for students to understand and remember the process.

Another great use of the colored ink has been in updating our Recycle Center. I was able to print bright, colorful labels and signs for each recycling bin to clearly indicate which materials should go where. The use of color makes it easier for students to identify and sort recyclables, and it's been a great tool for teaching them about sustainability. It's also helped make the Recycle Center more visually engaging, encouraging students to take an active role in keeping our classroom eco-friendly.

Lastly, the colored ink has been invaluable for our Calm Corner. This space is designed to help students manage their emotions, and I used the ink to print out vibrant images/letters with calming techniques like "I will calm down by using a stress ball," "I will calm down by drawing," and "I will calm down by practicing flower breathing." The colorful, friendly designs have made the Calm Corner more inviting and effective, providing students with accessible tools to regulate their emotions when they need a moment of calm.

The use of colored ink has truly enhanced the classroom experience. Whether it's math practices, emotional self-regulation tools, or visual aids for various subjects, the addition of color has helped our students engage with the material in a deeper and more meaningful way. It has created a more vibrant, organized, and supportive learning environment, where students feel more confident and motivated to take on new challenges.

Thank you again for your thoughtful donation. Your contribution has made such a positive impact on my classroom and on the students' educational journeys. We are deeply grateful for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sedano

  • Treasure Box of Fun: Motivating Kindergarten Success With Engaging Rewards

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, every Friday has become a special day in our classroom Treasure Box Day! Each week, I reward students who complete their weekly homework with a prize, encouraging responsibility and consistency in their work. The anticipation of choosing a treasure on Friday keeps them motivated to complete their assignments.

Throughout the week, I also use the treasure box items as positive reinforcement for good behavior. When students demonstrate kindness, respect, and follow classroom rules, they have the chance to pick a reward. This ongoing reward system has created a positive atmosphere, encouraging students to do their best both academically and behaviorally.

I loved seeing my students' faces lit up with pure excitement. The treasure box has truly brought excitement and positivity to our classroom, and it's all thanks to your support. Thank you for making this possible and for helping reinforce valuable habits and behaviors in such a fun way.”

  • Empowering Kindergarten Writers with Dual-Sided Whiteboards

    Funded Aug 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support in providing our classroom with dual-sided whiteboards! We have been using them daily during our UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) lessons to support writing practice. The lined side is especially helpful as students learn to form letters and words correctly. We use them for activities such as writing CVC words, and hope to soon begin constructing simple sentences. It's been a fantastic way to engage students in the writing process and reinforce the phonics skills they're learning.

When my students first saw the whiteboards, they were thrilled! They were excited to have their own boards to write on and couldn't wait to start using them. Seeing their enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in writing activities has been such a rewarding experience.

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping us grow as writers! We're forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sedano

My kindergarten students are a lively and enthusiastic group of young learners. They come to school each day with wide-eyed curiosity and a genuine love for learning, despite the challenges they may face outside the classroom. Coming from diverse and often low-income backgrounds, they bring a rich tapestry of experiences that make our classroom a vibrant place. These little ones are eager to explore, create, and grow, and they thrive on hands-on activities and engaging lessons. Additionally, because it’s a dual language class, they are developing skills in two languages, which enriches our classroom environment even further. With your support, we can provide the essential resources and opportunities they need to build a strong foundation for their educational journey
