How are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.

We've been incorporating the new resources in several creative ways. One example is using vocabulary terminology booklets and word walls, where students put key terms into their own words. The most effective part has been having students draw images to match these vocabulary terms. This has been particularly helpful for complex concepts like prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and processes such as the carbon cycle. The visual component, along with personalized definitions, has significantly improved their ability to recall and understand these terms.

How did your students react when they first saw the materials?

When my students were first introduced to the new materials, they were excited, especially with the opportunity to create visual representations of vocabulary terms. The posters and word walls immediately grabbed their attention and engaged them more actively in the learning process. They enjoyed the hands-on aspect of the projects, which made complex topics like the carbon cycle feel more accessible.

Your donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?

Our next step is preparing for their second unit exam, which covers macromolecules. The vocabulary tools we've been using will play a big role in helping them review key terms like carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. We're also using posters and diagrams from the previous units, such as cycles and cellular structures, to tie in and reinforce their understanding of macromolecules as part of larger biological systems.”
