  • Inspirational & Calming Reading Nook

    Funded Jul 30, 2024

    Thank you so much for funding this project, it has created a safe and welcoming space for students who struggle with reading. The resources, including graphic novels, comfortable furniture, and engaging puzzles, have significantly supported the literacy development of my Deaf and Hard-of-hearing students.

    Students look forward to their weekly silent reading time and take turns sitting in the beanbag chair. The bookshelf is used for students to display the books they are currently reading. The puzzles allow smoother transitions, providing students with a quick structured activity while other students wrap up their work. Additionally, they associate the reading nook with "downtime" even when participating in mandatory reading activities.

    Your generosity has helped them gain confidence, improve their reading skills, and foster a love for reading that will last a lifetime.”

  • Accessible Reading: Historical Fiction and Dystopian Settings to Spooky Stories
