Inspire Learning Through Theater!
Funded Aug 24, 2024Once again, on behalf of all of my drama students, I'd like to thank you for donating to this project. All of the items were received and many have already been put to good use on our most recent fall musical production.
Back in September, many of my drama students helped me to carry down all of the packages once they arrived. They couldn't believe that all of the enclosed items were donated to our drama program. So many of my students who are the artists in the group couldn't wait to get started on the set we'd be creating for our fall musical and use the brand new acrylic paint and paint brushes while all of our cast was already using the pencils, erasers, and highlighters for their scripts.
Late October and early November we began building, sketching, and painting our set for the fall musical and a number of our cast and crew were on hand to help create one of the most time consuming pieces of our set - the mushroom wagon (as we all called it) - that would be for the character of Caterpillar. We had to create a mushroom patch and design called for bright colors for the many shapes and sizes of mushrooms, flowers, and grasses that would be created. The acrylic paints fit that bill and the sketches of the mushroom patch came to life as the students began painting what they'd drawn. These students ranged from grades 6-12. In addition, the paints and paintbrushes were also helpful to create the larger backdrop for the production.
Once the production closed the 4 large wheeled laundry baskets were a HUGE help to gather all of the costumes to transport home to be laundered. The additional storage bins were used during the clean up to store various props and such from the production.
What's next for the drama students? A late winter/early spring play will be cast in early December with rehearsals to being soon after and then continue after the holiday break. In one way or another the materials from our project will be used for this play if they haven't already been used during the fall musical production.
Every production is different is what our needs may entail, but every single item will be used throughout the school year and we are so grateful to all of our donors that helped us fund this project.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Punzi
