Yes, I Am Reading That!

Funded Aug 20, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity. It is hard to believe that we have been in school in three months. We are working hard and making progress and we could not do it without your help.

We are using the items that you donated in our everyday activities to keep ourselves organized and on task. We use the colorful caddies to organize pencils and crayons on our desks to build a community in our classroom. We use the orange one to organize the calendar and weather resources. Every morning a "student meteorologist" reports the weather to the class. We use the carpet squares to sit on the carpet and participate in "turn and learn" discussions. Students use the wobble seat during flexible seating and the fidgets when they visit the "cool down area".

The students were very excited when we first received materials. The school year had already started when items started trickling in, so we took time to open the boxes and talk about the materials that were inside. We all received the gifts together!

Some next steps that I would like for this project is to continue to build community in the classroom – showing them how to respect materials and be responsible with the items. If they are making good choices and the items are keeping them organized, then I will be able to use them for years to come. Their commitment to being safe, respectful, responsible individuals will guide them as students and individuals.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Keyes
