Funded Jul 2, 2024I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible impact your generosity has had on my classroom. When my students first saw the vibrant markers, fresh easel paper, and detailed history and government posters, their excitement was palpable. Their eyes lit up as they realized they now had the tools to bring their ideas to life and explore history in a more hands-on, creative way. These materials have truly transformed how we engage with US History.
One particularly memorable moment was during our "History Election Campaign" project. Students worked in groups to create campaign posters, slogans, and presentations for their historical candidate simulations. Using the easel paper and markers, they brainstormed their platforms and designed vibrant, persuasive materials. The government posters served as a key reference, sparking discussions about the election process and the role of government in history. Watching them collaborate, debate, and create was inspiring—students who were often quiet in class found their voices and contributed enthusiastically.
What has touched me the most is how my students constantly share how much they love being in my classroom. They often tell me it feels like a safe and welcoming place—a space where they can express themselves, collaborate, and find information or guidance when they need it. This project has strengthened that sense of connection, creating an environment where they not only learn history but feel valued and supported.
The skills they've developed—teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking—will serve them well far beyond this classroom. Looking ahead, we plan to build on this success by integrating more project-based activities, such as debates and interactive timelines, to deepen their understanding of historical and civic concepts. Thanks to your support, my students are not only learning history but experiencing it in a way that feels meaningful and memorable.
Thank you for investing in their education and in our classroom's future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gonzalez
