• Support Our Young Readers: Enhance Learning With Physical Books

  Thanks to your generosity, our kindergarteners now have the opportunity to experience books in a whole new way! In our classroom, reading is not just about listening to stories—it's about active participation, discovery, and developing a lifelong love for books.

  Each day, we engage in shared reading, where students follow along as we explore new stories together. This helps them build essential literacy skills like print awareness, word recognition, and comprehension while also allowing them to make personal connections to what they read. After our shared reading, students have the chance to look through and borrow books from our classroom libraries during their choice time, fostering independence and a sense of ownership over their learning.

  These new books have already made an impact, especially for students who are eager to explore the world of animals—a theme we will be diving into soon in our upcoming unit! Having access to engaging, high-quality books related to animals will spark their curiosity, deepen their understanding, and make learning even more exciting. We've seen students gravitating toward their favorite books, flipping through the pages with fascination, and sharing what they've learned with their classmates. For some, this is the first time they've felt truly engaged with reading, and it's amazing to witness their enthusiasm grow.

• Empower Our Kindergarten Class with Essential Printing Supplies!

  Thanks to your generosity, our kindergarten grade has been able to provide essential learning materials more efficiently and effectively than ever before. Our school, like many others, faces challenges due to limited funding and resources, making it difficult to ensure that every student has access to the materials they need. However, with the addition of a printer and stapler, we now have the tools necessary to create, organize, and distribute engaging educational resources for all our kindergarten classrooms.

  These resources are more than just paper and ink—they are foundational learning tools that help our young learners develop critical early literacy and math skills. Having access to printed worksheets, hands-on activities, and instructional materials has allowed teachers to support diverse learning needs, reinforce lessons, and provide personalized instruction without worrying about resource constraints.

  This project has empowered our entire kindergarten team to be more self-sufficient, ensuring that materials are readily available when needed rather than relying on limited school-wide supplies. It has streamlined our preparation process, giving us more time to focus on what truly matters—helping our students learn, grow, and succeed.

• Joy and Learning to Our Kindergarten Class with Holiday Gifts

  Funded Dec 6, 2024

  Many of my students face significant challenges outside the classroom, with some living in shelters or unstable housing situations. For these children, personal belongings can be scarce, and the holidays may not always be a time of joy or gift-giving. This project will ensure that every child in our class receives a holiday gift bag filled with enriching and engaging items they can call their own.

  These carefully selected gifts are more than just fun—they provide meaningful learning experiences that support creativity, critical thinking, and emotional well-being. Tic-tac-toe games will encourage strategic thinking and mathematical skills in an interactive way. Coloring books will offer a creative outlet and a calming activity, while seasonal stickers will bring hands-on learning about the changing seasons. And, perhaps most importantly, each child will receive a Pete the Cat book, giving them the joy of owning a story they can read and cherish at home.

  For many of my students, this may be the only holiday gift they receive. Your generosity will not only bring smiles to their faces but also remind them that they are valued, supported, and loved. Thank you for helping to make this season special for our students.”

• Enhancing Math and Financial Literacy in Kindergarten

  Thank you for your generous support of our project, which enhances financial literacy in our kindergarten classroom. Your contribution provides essential math tools and resources that help our young learners build foundational skills in counting, money management, and financial decision-making in a fun and engaging way.

  With your support, we are using an interactive classroom banking system where students track how many POWER dollars they earn every two weeks by demonstrating perseverance, optimism, willingness, empathy, and respect. They then redeem their earnings for prizes, which teaches them the value of saving, goal-setting, and making thoughtful choices.

  The dice you provided also play a key role in our classroom. We use them to design fun math games, such as creating equal groups and exploring other math concepts, making learning both exciting and hands-on for our students.
