  • Creating Our Own Library

    Funded Oct 7, 2024

I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your significant contributions to our classroom. Reading plays a vital role in social studies, but unfortunately, there has been a decline in students' reading habits over the past few years. Instead of reading, students often opt to utilize the computers for gaming during their free time. I hypothesized that providing students with reading materials on diverse topics would encourage them to spend more time reading. Since receiving the donated books, there has been a notable increase in students' reading habits. Students are now engaging in discussions about their favorite books and eagerly anticipating their next read. I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your generous donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Victor

  • Sneakers and Snacks in Social Studies Class

    Funded Sep 28, 2024

I can't thank you enough for the generous donations that you have made for our classroom. When the students walked into class the first day that our new sneaker poster was on display, they were amazed. Some students said that they are just used to seeing maps in their social studies classes. They never thought they would come in to see a history of "Air Jordan's" on the side wall. This is a great way not only to connect to students interests, but show them how the sneakers have evolved over time.

The snacks have also played a huge impact for the students. Being able to give them a treat after working on a project and test were very rewarding. The students have been enjoying social studies class even more as the year is going on.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Victor

  • Seeing the World in a New Perspective!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

When students walked into the classroom this week, they were amazed at what they saw. Our empty wall space is now turned into a full geography learning area. Both the map of the world and of the United States are displayed next to each other. Students ran over to the maps pointing at the states they have visited, or have briefly lived in. Other students were amazed by the size of the oceans on the world map.

My ESL classes have really been enjoying these large maps to help understand where countries are located. Also, there was room on the bulletin board there was extra space to hang the world war propaganda posters. As we begin talking about World War I, students are seeing the effect the propaganda posters had to encourage men to join the armed forces during that time. This project was turned out wonderful and we appreciate your generosity very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Victor
