Equitable Classroom
Funded Nov 11, 2024I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support in funding a computer cart for my students. This addition to our classroom has been a game-changer, providing my students with easy access to technology that enhances their learning experience. Many of them do not have access to computers at home, so having a dedicated space for technology in the classroom allows them to explore new educational tools, conduct research, and engage in interactive lessons that make learning more engaging and meaningful.
The excitement among my students has been incredible! They are eager to use the computers for collaborative projects, writing assignments, and online educational resources that help strengthen their skills. One student in particular, who previously struggled with reading comprehension, has shown remarkable progress using literacy programs that are now more accessible thanks to the computer cart. Seeing their confidence grow as they develop new skills with technology is truly inspiring.
Your generosity has made a lasting impact on our classroom, giving my students opportunities they would not have otherwise. Because of your kindness, they now have the tools to become more independent learners and better prepared for the digital world ahead. Thank you for believing in their potential and for making such a meaningful difference in their education!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Britton

Funded Sep 17, 2024Our project "Building an Inclusive classroom" is a part of an ongoing school wide project incorporating the tenets of Social Emotional Learning. The tenets of SEL are; self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making. As a special education teacher I value the tenets of SEL and the potential impact it may have in supporting my students. One of my goals as an educator especially teaching children with disabilities is supporting them holistically: this involves whole child wellness. I strive to engage my students not only on academic level but supporting their social and emotional development.
Henceforth, books like; "Coloring Without Borders" offers reading & coloring in Spanish and English. Often new immigrant students are traumatized and emotionally burdened by all the sudden changes occurring in their lives. My intention is that in my classroom they can have familiarity and comfort in learning a new language. As for the majority of my students who are from under supported communities: it is important that I can foster growth in learning to process emotions in a safe space. Also, it is important that my students do not feel villainize for being expressive; even if that emotion is anger. Therefore, cultivating an SEL classroom is a start to building foundational holistic wellness for my students that they can carry throughout their lives.”

Mrs. Britton
