  • Revamp the Reading Corner

    Funded Oct 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to my classroom. As you can see in the photos, my previous flexible seating was well-loved. The funding of this project allowed me to revamp my reading carpet completely.

Students love it when they can transition from the small group table to the bean bags for instruction. It breaks up the daily routines and students enjoy being comfortable while learning. These bean bags are well-made and should last for several years. Again, this was because of the kind donations that made this possible for my students and we thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adkins

  • Readers Turn Into Leaders!

    Funded Jun 21, 2024

This project meant a lot to me. I am a Reading Interventionist and I serve students in ten classrooms. That means I do a lot of data assessments and with those come reports. I printed documents effortlessly and FAST. This allowed for a quick turnaround with student data to drive instruction and allowed myself and my teachers to start teaching small groups sooner.

Another amazing benefit of this new printer is that I was able to create my student take-home folders. These folders play a major role in creating open and successful communication between school and home. These folders provide guardians with the information needed to help their child/children at home using the strategies practiced at school. It is ALOT of printing to get these eighty folders ready for my students. Along with the information printed, they get to take home several other items. Those items included small golf pencils, dry-erase markers, and laminated sound boxes to map words. They also get to take home small mirrors from the donation list. These mirrors will help reinforce the manner of articulation of sounds. These items were so important to meeting the needs of my students, families, and myself. Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adkins

  • Help Our Word Work Stick!

    Funded Jun 5, 2024

Thank you so much for your kind donations to this project. This project funded a new magnetic classroom whiteboard for the students and me to use. The board will be used to display our weekly read-alouds. It will be a place where students can use their magnetic mirrors to inspect the placement of their mouth, teeth, tongue and lips while working on articulation of sounds. I model blending and segmenting using magnetic letters on the classroom board. Students do daily word work using magnetic letters to practice manipulating letters and sounds to create new words. This board gives the students a chance to get up and move and interact with one another rather than using their small individual boards. I am currently waiting for the board to be installed by our county employees. I cannot wait to see the board in action. Thank you again for supporting my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adkins
