Inspire My Students to Read More!
Funded Jan 16, 2025Thank you so much for your generous donation! Because of you, the students in my class will now have more choices for independent reading time, which increases their reading comprehension and writing skills in class. Watching the kids find a new desire for reading is one of the best parts of my job. This will help them go farther in life beyond the school walls.”
With gratitude,

Ignite Our Readers!! (2)
Funded Oct 3, 2024By introducing these new young adult books, I've seen my students become more motivated to engage in reading. They are noticing content in books that is actually interesting to them (versus many of the texts we may read in classes). They are able to see characters who struggle with the same issues that they struggle with, which is helping their confidence. It's also helping them with comprehension overall, as well as their writing skills.
I had a student who would "fake" read every time we had silent reading time, and she finished her first book of the semester after I introduced her to one from this shipment!
Many of the books feature diverse characters and perspectives, allowing students to explore different cultures and experiences. This promotes empathy and understanding, encouraging a more inclusive classroom environment.
This semester, we are beginning reading conferences, so students will get the chance to talk about the books they are reading, set goals for themselves, and reflect on what independent reading means for them. This is all because of you and your donation!!”
