Funded Dec 13, 2024Thanks to the generous support, my students have had the opportunity to engage with exciting, hands-on literacy activities. One of the most exciting additions to our classroom was a project focused on the story "La Gallinita Roja" (The Little Red Hen). This unit was especially impactful as it allowed students to dive deep into the story while developing essential literacy skills.
The hands-on activities provided by the Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) resources created an interactive and immersive learning experience. My students particularly loved retelling the story and engaging in related activities that reinforced key vocabulary and concepts. Through these activities, they not only practiced their oral language skills but also gained confidence in speaking and sharing their thoughts with the class.
As a result of this unit, students saw improvements in their oral development. They were able to express themselves more clearly, use new vocabulary in context, and participate more confidently in group discussions. Additionally, the project supported their writing development. They practiced writing sentences and stories related to the theme, which helped them connect oral language with written expression.
The most rewarding part of this project was seeing how it boosted my students' self-confidence. By working on engaging and relatable activities, they felt more motivated and eager to participate in learning. The excitement they expressed while sharing their ideas and completing their projects showed how much they were growing as learners.
This project has been a fantastic way to promote both language development and creativity in my classroom, and I am so grateful to the donors for making it possible.
Additionally, I was able to purchase various hands-on activities that supported students' phonemic awareness and phonics skills.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. R. Sanchez
