Wonder World: A Multi-sensory Adventure Through Math and Words

Funded Jun 10, 2024

We want to thank you for your generous support. I can not put the words together to share how your contribution has significantly impacted my students and our classroom. When the boxes first arrived, my student's eyes grew wide with wonder, and one of my students asked me, "What's that Ms. Candice?" They knew something amazing was going to happen in the classroom.

The sensory fidget tubes made the classroom environment like I could never have imagined. For instance, typically, after lunch, my students have a burst of energy, bouncing like jumping jelly beans. But when they laid their hands on the calming sensory fidget tubes, it was as if time slowed down. Smiles spread across their faces, and you can feel the calmness in the room. I could hardly believe it.

That is not all because nothing is compared to the moment when my students laid eyes on the lava lamps. All my students, including my students who are shy, gathered around the lamps, mesmerized by it's beauty and calmness. Some began pointing, and others said "fish" and "jellyfish." The pure joy and wonder in their eyes brought tears to my eyes. As a teacher, this was a rare moment where everything aligned perfectly, and I felt the overwhelming power of connection and discovery.

The math items were also a hit. Most of the time, math is a challenge for my students, but everything changed when they used the ten-frame pop boards and other manipulatives. Students who didn't participate in the counting were fully engaged, popping their way through the counting exercises. The counting bears and ice cream cones had made my beginning of the year assessments run smoothly but enjoyable. The manipulative block brought a new level of hands-on exploration, allowing my students to experience learning through tactile and kinesthetic, deeply impactful ways.

Thanks to you, my students are not just learning, they are thriving. They are finding joy in math and reading while gaining confidence. The next steps for my students are learning more reading and math concepts. These resources are incredible and will engage my students and keep curiosity alive.

Thank you again for making a powerful difference in my classroom. Your contribution will leave a lasting impact on my students. We are excited to continue this lifelong passion for learning, embracing their individuality and unique abilities with the tools you have provided.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Candice
