Bringing just a few pieces of technology into our classroom would mean endless possibilities for my students. Sure, we'll have some fun with it all. More importantly, though, is the way it will transform the learning process. My students will be able to explore books in new ways, work collaboratively with their peers on projects and activities, learn and practice important skills through interactive lessons, share their work with the class, and much, much more. This technology would be a game-changer! With a projector, we could link our lessons to online resources and educational videos from sites like BrainPop and Scholastic. The document camera would allow me to display information and model new skills in ways that would help keep students engaged. Really, the possibilities are endless. We could magnify maps or an atlas for social studies lessons, explore the detailed characteristics of plants and flowers in science, or collaborate on interactive reading and writing lessons to name a few. By combining all three devices, I will be able to make any discussion, lesson, or review completely interactive. The whiteboard system will allow for more student-centered learning, and provide me with new ways to collaborate with my students. “We need to embrace technology to make learning more engaging. Because when students are engaged and they are interested, that's where learning takes place.” - Anonymous.
