Maintaining a Holistic Learning Experience for Children with Autism
Funded Apr 22, 2024Dear [
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations. Your support meant the world to my class and has made a significant impact. We are incredibly thankful for your willingness to help. Your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed, and we are filled with joy and gratitude every time we use the items for our sensory-seeking learners. We walk into our classroom daily filled with gratitude, knowing we have a community out there. Some people in our community have yet to meet us physically but are willing to support young, unique learners in need in Baltimore City. Your role in this community, your willingness to support young unique learners, is truly inspiring. Having the trampoline in the room has been a lifesaver. We use it multiple times a day. Some students have it built into their schedules as a break incentive, and we've seen lots of behavioral growth using this as an incentive in times of need to destress and regulate themselves. Some of our games and literacy items that we've ordered have helped give our unique learners a sense of independence in their independent stations. We are truly grateful for your support and willingness to help.
Working in small groups has proven to be effective in boosting our students' confidence and academic skills. When we introduce them to activities and allow them to work independently, they show remarkable phonological awareness and social-emotional development growth. The weighted vest has been particularly beneficial for two of our students, providing them with a sense of calm and reducing stress during challenging times in the classroom. One student wears it for hours daily while recognizing its positive impact on their peers. As we compiled our list of classroom needs post-COVID, we carefully considered each item to address the budget constraints and staffing issues we have been facing. Every item on the list has been essential and put to good use in our classroom!
Your contribution has already made a real difference in the lives of our students, and we are truly grateful for your support. As we continue to strive for the best learning environment for our special needs students, your ongoing support is invaluable. We hope we can count on your continued generosity to make a lasting impact on our students.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Josh
