Technology for All
Funded Nov 29, 2017My students have been using the new HP laptop for about a month now and it has been a great addition to the 6 laptops we had. The new addition has been a life savor when it comes to students finishing projects, searching on current topics and getting acquainted to technology.
Most of my students do not have access to technology at home, therefore, my classroom is for the most part the only time they have the opportunity to use technology. Just recently they finished typing their California Regions essay. Their typing skills and use of the laptop has only improved by having the newest HP laptop. During reading, students have been able to listen to their favorite stories online and by using the CD ROM. The next technology lesson will learning how to use Power Point to present their Electricity and Magnetism projects. Another useful donation was the technology backpack. I especially love storing the laptop in the bag and I can store another laptop in there as well. It is roomy and I know the laptop will be kept safe in there.
To be able to give the opportunity that they can not at home is a vital part of being a teacher. Exposing and giving access to my students is what my students need to be able to be a productive and positive member of our society. Many thank yous to the wonderful donator who was able to give my 32 students access to technology that they do not have at home.”

Funded Oct 16, 2017The Writing Strategies Book and the Next Step Forward in Guided Reading is an essential tool that I have been using in the classroom the minute I received it. My students come in to 4th grade learning in various levels, therefore, having a teacher's guide that I can use to help is essential. Now I can open up these books to help with what I need to teach and how I need to teach to my students. I can develop individual goals for each of my readers and writers.
My students also received 3 new read aloud books (I Wanna Iguana, I Wanna New Room and the Potato Chip Champ). These serve as mentor texts that motivate my students with their beautiful illustrations and entertaining context. Most importantly, my students use these read alouds as an example of what different writing genres. They now have mentor texts that show them what good writing looks like and sounds like.
My students and I also received an abundant amount of classroom supplies. We now have a class set of clip boards. My students can take their work anywhere and they love using them. We also have colored card stock paper that we have used for classroom handouts, games and art activities. The zip lock bags have been used to carry their books that they are currently reading. They have bags that stay in the classroom and go home. Our books are kept safe and clean so that books can be used for many more years.
My students and I are so very grateful for your generous donation. My students have the essential tools necessary to motivate them and enhance their learning. Thank you!”

Paint, Glue, Supplies... Oh My!
Funded Mar 29, 2017My students and I began to use the materials immediately! My students were engaged, excited about how their art project turned out. We used tissue paper to create our Mother's Day gifts. They used the markers and colored cardstock to make their card. I know the other materials: paint, glue, scotch tape will be used to create their masterpieces. The large post its will be used to write anchor charts and students get to create posters for specific topics we are currently learning about. We are so grateful for these donations!”

Funded Dec 27, 2016The day the materials were delivered, my students and I immediately opened the boxes. Excited does not come close to describing how thrilled my students were to get these "toys" My students immediately got into building and exploring the Magna Tiles and Builders. I loved what I saw. My students who usually are shy were shouting and laughing when they would build the highest tower among their peers. My students who are the least motivated to participate in math were so engaged as I have used these during our Geometry and Fraction units. The vocabulary I heard them use showed me how even these Magna Tiles and Builders can be a vital part of motivating students to use academic language while playing with toys.
The Brain Box STEAM set has been a must for my students to play with daily. Not only are these academically engaging but they create such a positive community among my 4th graders. They practice their problem solving skills and learn to work with a group setting. Through Budding Series set had also been an integral part of our daily activities. They have been a great addition to our lass room library. Students read about careers that they have interests in. Thank you donors for providing an opportunity for my students to be engaged and learn in my classroom.”

Funded Oct 24, 2016Your generous donation to my students has made such an impact in our classroom. To begin, the 11 read aloud books have been a great addition to our current standards based curriculum. These books are a spring board to their learning. I am able to model for them through these read alouds to search for meaning and use reading strategies to reinforce shared, guided, and independent reading.
In addition, the read a loud books have helped my students with their social skills. They have created an environment among my students that bullying is not ok and to stand up for what is right. My students are also very creative thinkers but their self doubt can hold them back in their capabilities. The books that you have donated show them that mistakes are okay. They have learned that they should not give up in their endeavors and each mistake opens up a learning experience.
Next is the new comfy seats that all my students can use. My students LOVE to read and now they have these Go Anywhere chairs that allows them to enjoy their books while being comfortable. Not everyone likes to sit at a chair and read at their table. For those students who like to sit on the floor or in a special nook at our classroom, they now have the opportunity to sit anywhere they choose with the Animal Squares.
These read aloud books and comfortable seating options are costly and are hard to come by with the drastic budget cuts that happen at my school. However, because of your generous donation you have impacted a class of 4th graders who look forward to reading and do so eagerly.”

For the Love of Reading
Funded Mar 9, 2016Your generous donation to my students has made such an impact in our classroom. To begin, the 7 read aloud books have been a great addition to our current standards based curriculum. These books are a spring board to their learning. I am able to model for them through these read alouds to search for meaning and use reading strategies to reinforce shared, guided, and independent reading.
The other 3 read a loud books have helped my students personally. Many of my students have suffered a loss in their family and The Goodbye Book has helped my students cope with the loss less painfully. 2 of the read aloud books discuss how mistakes are okay. Many of my students have a hard time being a perfectionist and these books show them how mistakes are okay.
Next is the subscription to Time for Kids and Scholastic News. Wow! My students loved reading the nonfiction articles filled with current and relevant news for my students. Not only are they learning science and social studies related topics, but they are so excited to read. My students enjoy reading their chapter books, but do they love reading their magazine articles as well.
These read aloud books and magazine subscription are costly and are hard to come by with the drastic budget cuts that happen at my school. However, because of your generous donation you have impacted a class of 3rd graders who look forward to reading and do so eagerly.
Thank you once again,

Making Learning Fun
Funded Aug 31, 2011What a fabulous time my students have been having with the math materials that you have donated to my class. They've been using them since the first day of school and look forward each time they get to use them. The place value blocks were the first to be introduced to my students since it is one of the first lessons that they learn at the beginning of the school year. Next were the dice blocks, which has been a constant in the students' independent work time. Currently the students have been able to use the dice in a dice and they think they are the neatest material to work with. They enjoy using the materials and all the while they are learning what is needed of them as third graders. You have fulfilled the need of math materials for my students. They are learning vital mathematical concepts while having fun!! Thank you for being a part of my students' success in education.”
