  • Sounds, Syllables, Sentences...Oh My!

    Funded Feb 14, 2025

I immediately made use of the materials that were donated to our classroom. The use of dry erase boards provided my students with more specified tools like the lined white boards. The lined white boards helped all the age groups in forming their letters properly. The paddle white boards were used to help learn the sounds of words and break down syllables in bigger words. In addition, they are are easy to handle for younger learners. My students especially liked the magnetic hearts and circles to help with high frequency words ans blending the sounds of words.

The key to these materials is that they are engaging for ALL students and ALL learners.

The teacher resources has helped add variety to my already existing lessons. Students always need extra ways to practice their learning and these resources will support that.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rosan Wachi

  • The Power of Games

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

The game boards that have been donated has made a huge difference in my students' learning. They have helped with critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and social engagement. My goal for this project was for students to build connections with their classmates, meanwhile, developing social skills that motivates them to practice their listening and speaking skills. Game boards also contribute to enhancing social interactions, motivate timid students, while allowing them an opportunity to make new friends. My students have found success in these game boards because it has piqued their interest all the while learning key academic and social skills. Because of these connections, your donations has made a tremendous and positive impact.”

  • Let's Read

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Once receiving your donation, I instantly opened up the package. The next day, I surprised my students with the Raina Telgemeier Collection 5 Books Set (Sisters, Drama, Smile, Ghosts, Guts) and my students were beyond excited. The clapped, cheered and I already had students begging to read them. Because of your generous donation, I was able to provide access to these motivational books even with my reluctant readers.

The rotating bookshelf looks beautiful in our classroom library. Due to our limited space, this was the perfect addition. It makes book selection much easier for my eager readers. Thank you for providing my students these enriching and motivating materials. We are very grateful.”

  • Let's Get Our Day Started

    Funded Oct 31, 2023

My students were able to dive in to the Building Brick STEM Challenges immediately. We have been able to start our mornings building, exploring, creating and socializing with our classmates. I have noticed such a positive change in my students' learning and motivation. Prior to receiving this generation donation, my students had a difficult time arriving to class on time. I had quite a few tardies and noticed students were not motivated to come to class. However, since starting our morning using the Building Brick STEM Challenges, my attendance has improved drastically. In addition, I have also observed that my students have been more engaged to talk with their classmates and share out ideas. These Building Brick STEM Challenges, has promoted critical thinking skills that my students need and require as 4th grade students.

This generous donation has provided a warm welcome to my students in the morning, has been a great way to get acclimated to their day and more importantly build a positive community. Students have been able to socialize with students that they usually wouldn't on the yard and they have used their language skills as their created with Building Brick STEM Challenges.”

Teaching with magazines is such a fresh and engaging way to motivate my students with informational reading. Magazines reach out to my English language learners, and to my students that are hesitant with reading. Having a continuing subscription to Scholastic Magazine provides high interest articles that are perfect for my beginning to intermediate readers as well. Students will be able to store and care for their magazines with the ziploc bags provided and be able to write on them using the Sharpie pens. All in all, this project with serve to immerse all my diverse learners”

  • Clay, Yarn, Markers... Oh My!

    Funded Apr 21, 2022

As soon as I received the Phonics and Spelling teacher book, I immediately used it the next day for my classroom. So far, my upper grade students have learned about word structure which is such an integral part for teaching 4th grade. There are so many lessons that can be taught just by learning word structure. This book has enabled me to have a structured phonics routine for older students.

Very soon, students will be able to use the clay. One plan is for students to make a model of California's four regions. They can use different colors to represent each region. It's a great culmination project after students have learned and researched each region.

The ziploc bags come to great use throughout the day. I send home books for students to read and they keep them safe in their ziploc bags. I also have been able to use them to organize materials for math, art, spelling, etc. All the materials that were provided will be used excessively. Thank you.”

  • Classroom Essentials

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

School supplies are essentials for students and teachers. For children who come from low-income families, you have been able to provide my students with the opportunity to have supplies that they may not necessarily have access to.

Without these supplies, the daily ongoings of the classroom would be limiting, but because of your generous donation, this is no longer the case. My students' faces when they saw the new pack of paint, new folders, craft trays was priceless. By having these types of materials at the tips of their fingers students are excited to have the opportunity to be creative throughout the year.”

  • Technology for All

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

This technology is helping my students learn by having an updated and reliable device that they have complete access to. Here are a few examples why my students are so excited about using this new device: Currently my students love typing their essays in our writing unit. For Social Studies, they are researching the 4 California regions. During reading, they get to read or listen to their favorite stories online. They are having a blast learning how to use PowerPoint to present their Electricity and Magnetism projects.

Having this technology has given my students the opportunity that they can have an unfailing device is such a vital part of our day to day work. Exposing and giving access to my students is what my students need to be able to be a productive and positive member of our society.”

My students come from various social economic backgrounds. My students come from low income family. They come from homes where parents are in the home, trying their best to raise their children in a neighborhood that has gang related problems daily. There are students that don't have either parent and are either with a foster family or with a relative. Either way, they come to class eager to learn, which is why I wouldn't want anything more but to enhance their excitement for education through games and materials.
