Reading Time! Help Motivate Our Class to be Good Readers.
Funded Aug 15, 2024My name is Ms. Doan and I'm a 4th grade teacher at Washington Elementary. I am writing to express my gratitude for your recent donation of a rug and voice amplifier to our classroom. Your contribution has greatly enhanced our learning environment.
When your donation arrived, I took the opportunity to redecorate our room. The next day, my students were filled with excitement as they saw the vibrant rug and new decorations. They saw a pop of color when they walked into the room and they couldn't wait to sit on our new rug.
As a teacher, I am grateful that you are making a difference in the lives of young learners. With the voice amplifier, I have taught students with ease. The high-quality of the speaker provided a crisp and clear sound for students to hear. My students could hear their teacher from whichever seat they are in, which promotes equity in learning.
With a class rug, students have sustained 20 minutes of silent reading and succeeded in writing. The rug contains words and their corresponding images (i.e., apple and an image of an apple), so I advised my newcomer students (English Language Learners who are immigrants) to look at the rug if they needed ideas. For example, I gave the sentence frame, "I like ____," and said to look at the rug to see examples of items they like. Then, the student completed the sentence frame with "ice cream" and "pandas." Thus, the rug not only was a source of comfort for students, but also a learning resource.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Your donation has made a lasting impact on our classroom.”

Funded Feb 22, 2024My name is Ms. Doan and I'm a fourth grade teacher in San Jose. I am writing to express my gratitude for your recent donation of books and school supplies to our classroom. Your generosity has profoundly impacted our students and enhanced our learning environment.
The moment your donation arrived, our students were filled with excitement and gratitude. They couldn't wait to use the new supplies. Your contribution has provided them with essential tools for academic success.
As a teacher, I am deeply grateful for your commitment to making a difference in the lives of young learners. With a class set of the Tiger Rising, I taught students reading skills such as inference, character trait, and comparison and contrast. In our classroom, we have a 15 minute reading lesson, followed by 30 minutes of silent reading. During the silent reading, I work with students in pairs or independently to improve their fluency and comprehension skills. I used the white boards to illustrate new vocabulary words for students and help them with spelling.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Your donation will leave a lasting impact on our classroom for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Doan
