Classroom Library
Funded Nov 19, 2024Classroom libraries help create a print-rich environment that supports literacy development. The presence of books in the classroom not only enhances students' exposure to written language but also provides opportunities for discussions around the texts, promoting critical thinking and comprehension skills. I will use the books to facilitate book talks and reading groups, where students share their thoughts and reflections on what they read, further enriching their understanding.
Using decodable texts in intervention programs helps bridge the gap for students who may struggle with traditional reading materials. By focusing on phonemic awareness and decoding skills, these texts enable students to practice reading fluently and accurately. As students' progress and gain proficiency, they can transition to more complex texts, which supports their overall literacy development. We will be bridging the gap during independent reading, small groups, and phonics instruction. Students will receive an overall support across content areas to improve their literacy skills.
The support that I received from you does not go unnoticed. Our books are going to be used in a substantial manner that will help bridge the gap. My students love to read and are super excited to be receiving new materials.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Duke
