  • Students End of the Year Hygiene Kits

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

The school gave an assembly and during that time we gave the students the hygiene kits. We explained the importance of hygiene and how these items would help with that. The students were thrilled to receive these kits. Some of the students asked if I could give them another one for their siblings. Fortunately, there were enough kits that I was able to give them another one. The students has been using the case as a pencil case. I noticed they put all their pencils, pens and highlighters in these cases. The students seem grateful that they're able to use these kits.”

  • Opening a Book Is Opening Your Mind

    Funded Oct 18, 2024

My french and arabic students lit up when I showed them the new books you have helped donate to them. They immediately asked to borrow the books and I of course said yes. These days it's hard to remind students that reading is a fun activity for them to do. So I'm always looking for books that might interest them. After reading the books students are given a book summary handout that has questions based on what they had finished reading. After students are done they can turn in the book summary handout and are welcome to borrow another book. By doing this they receive extra credit for my class and in their social studies class as well.

Thank you for helping in this project. Me and my students are forever grateful for your kindness.”

  • Building Reading Literacy

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

After receiving these new books my students were so excited. I even had one student ask me if they could borrow the Spiderman comic book that I was able to get due to your donations. I said, of course and since then they have told me how much they have enjoyed reading it. As for The Hunger Games books the students were instantly interested in reading them. Especially since they have acting on Fridays and they have been working on doing a performance based on The Hunger Games.

The students are receiving extra credit based on each book they read. And after I receive a small book summary they write. Other teachers have collaborated with me by saying they'll also give students extra credit in their classes for reading too. This couldn't have been done without you. I am so grateful.”

  • Testing and Reading Excellence

    Funded Mar 2, 2024

My students have been enjoying reading the new books you have helped to get them. I opened my classroom library and showed the new books to the students. I then explained to them that they can get extra credit if they read a book and fill out the reading summary. The students are able to borrow these books and they give it back to me once they're done reading.

The students are enjoying the Harry Potter series and the Percy Jackson graphic novels. They have mentioned how reading these books have been a challenge but they like the fantasy aspects to them. So that have helped them want to continue reading these books despite the challenge.”
