Be Present... Be Safe...Be Calm...

I want to thank you for your tremendous support of my project, "Be Present... Be Safe...Be Calm." This year has been especially challenging for my students. The items that I have received have allowed me to create a relaxing and a calm environment for my students. The students report feeling at ease and are more apt to discuss emotional issues that have impacted their academic success.

The most important item that I received was sheer curtains. These curtains have allowed students the opportunity to cry, yell, scream or pace without "people judging them." Staff have positively commented on the added privacy and limited visibility that the curtains afford students.

The other item that I requested and received is a chair. This chair sits next to my desk and the students and staff alike report extreme comfort and feelings of relaxation. This chair such provides an opportunity for students to rest and recover. Students have fallen asleep while resting their heads. The students have described my office as "homey and comfy". The new space is where I can experience peace and tranquility and offer my students the same.”
