Clear and Consistent
Funded Mar 17, 2025I am so deeply grateful for your generosity in finding this project. My students have such wonderful ideas and these resources give them the opportunity and modality to do so! I can’t wait to try a new game and see their faces light up, or create a new visual schedule and watch a student be successful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mattie
Calming and Communicating
Funded Jan 10, 2025I am so grateful for your generous donations to help my students thrive. The Calm Ball has become a new favorite for my students during our daily "mindful moment," and has prompted great discussion about different ways to calm your body and mind.
The Big Mack button has been instrumental in teaching cause and effect to early communicators, which gets them excited about sharing their ideas and participating in group activities. It has been particularly helpful in our core word unit for "go". Students have enjoyed participating by selecting "go" during read aloud, games, and cut/paste activities.
The laminating sheets are being put to use to create visual schedules and cues to help students become more successful during their school day.
All of this is possible because of your help!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mattie
Everyone Deserves a Voice!
Funded Feb 19, 2024The materials my students and I received through Donors Choose have been both exciting and engaging. At this point in the school year, motivation becomes a bit of a struggle as the students have seen and used all materials many times. To have something new infused into our learning has been the boost we need to finish the school year strong!
We have been using the farm set to practice labeling animals, requesting desired items, and following directions containing spatial concepts (on, under, over). The articulation mirror and phoneme pictures have been very beneficial in helping my students monitor their own productions more independently ("look at the mirror, is your mouth doing what it needs to?"). I have read "A Day with No Words" to many of my students, particularly those with classmates who use devices to communicate. It has prompted wonderful discussion about communication devices and offered a great model of how to interact with someone who uses one.
We are so grateful for the supplies and your generosity. Learning to communicate can be challenging and it helps so much to have materials that we are excited about!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mattie
