  • Replenishing School Supplies to End the Year!

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donation that allowed us to receive replenished items for our classroom! This will be a tremendous asset for my students, enabling them to keep organized with the folders, continue working with our centers using the markers, and make sure that our crayons are there to help them match their writing.

My first graders do not know how to keep their important learnings organized. Having the different color folders, help them know where things go. For example, after math is finished, I will tell them to take out their Red Folder and place their work in it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

  • Mesh Zipper Pouches

    Funded May 8, 2024

Having the mesh zipper pouches has been a GameChanger in the classroom. The children are very organized with their centers. They get straight to work without losing any time on trying to get the center from a different location in the classroom. We have the mesh zipper pouches in our seat sacks, so all the children have to do is turn around, pull out their mesh bag and get straight to their individualized work to help them with their academic learning.

When the children saw the mesh zipper bags, they were excited to have their personal learning activities behind them.

    Thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

  • Protect My Center

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation! These sheet protectors have been a tremendous addition to our classroom. My little learners have multiple centers for ELA and mathematics, and they are able to reuse each center without me having to make continuous copies. When it's time for their center activities, they pull them from the basket, get an expo maker and complete assignments. The children love the different border colors and I do have the colors assigned for each table group, so it is very easy to see which basket is their group's.”

  • Seat Sacks

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

I know it's been a few days since I received the seat sacks, but I had to share immediately what a blessing they have been since we started using them. Having the seat sacks right behind each student has made transitioning into centers and independent work a much smoother experience. All my lovely students just turn around and pull out their centers or manipulatives and begin their work. Before these amazing seat sacks, I had one monitor leave each table group to get a basket and then pass out the centers or manipulatives in order to begin their work. It did waste time and that transition needed to be well monitored. Thank you so much for your generous support! The quality is so great that I see future classes also using these seat sacks.”

  • Replenish Student Supplies

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

Having these supplies in the classroom ready to be given to my students, if they are unable to purchase these items or just forget the supplies at home, helps tremendously and doesn't stop my students from falling behind because they are unprepared.

When the boxes arrive, I brought the boxes into classroom and place them all on the table. When they walked into the room, they were so grateful and excited that someone that doesn't know them, would help them so greatly.

Having such a heavy duty sharpener keeps their pencils sharp and ready to complete their work. Having the folders, helps them keep organized. And, using the pens for our writing, helps with our editing.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

  • Author Study

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations of the Patricia Polacco author study books. The children absolutely love how they are able to relate to her experiences. After reading the books, the students absolutely loved the way her stories are realistic, filled with humor and how her books are accessible- even for my students that are struggling readers. The children didn't mind listening to and working with G Is For Goat (even though a few of the children said it was a baby book). However, they quickly were able to connect with My Rotten Red-Headed Older Brother with their own siblings. And, a few were brought to tears while I read Thank You, Mr. Falker.

Showing the children how amazing reading is, allows more books to be read!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

  • Current Events

    Funded Dec 30, 2022

Because of the timing of the donation, my students, I will have next year, will love having Scholastic News! With the sample magazines that have come in thus far, you can see their excitement in their faces. It will be a wonderful source of nonfiction text that is relevant to the world around them! I cannot wait for my students to watch the video clips that align with the articles and have in depth conversations about the topics. I cannot wait to see their growth and know that Scholastic News will be a huge help in developing these skills. I plan on teaching them how to analyzing the text, summarize topics, debating issues, researching topics of interest and looking forward each week to the Scholastic News being delivered!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

  • Books, Books, and More Books

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Having these books in my classroom has made such a difference with my students. They enjoy reading them everyday and enjoying jotting notes about the books they have read. Not only do my students need to achieve a learning gap that is anywhere from one to three years behind a "normal" third grade students, but also need to comprehend the fiction or nonfiction books that they read. And, these books are doing their job. I am testing my students' reading levels about every eight weeks and their levels are increasing from one - three reading levels. Thank you again!”

  • Vacuum Our Rug

    Funded Jan 29, 2022

I am so sorry that it has taken so long for me to send you how our vacuum has impacted our class. We were just given the okayed to lay our new rug down and yesterday was the first time I was able to use the vacuum to clean the rug.

Several children in the class are asthmatic and this will will alleviate the dust that the rug can gather on a daily basis. We sit at the rug at the start of every subject that's being taught. The rug severs as our meeting area. So, making sure each morning, before the children come to class, I make sure the rug is vacuumed and ready to begin our learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Viera

Our school year begins in September; therefore, I have not met my students. However, they are scholars that are categorized as Students Excelling Academically. By talking to their teacher from last year, they think outside the box and love using technology to explain projects. If you let them, they will read all day, create Power Points on the books that they read, extremely competitive with their scores, and love debating on difference issues. We are located within the inner city of New York; where the majority of the students receive free or reduced lunches. A good portion of our students reside with the New York City Housing Authority because they have a low or moderate-incomes. Because our school provides a minimal amount of technological devices, their love to produce projects will take longer to complete within my classroom.
