Uniforms for Students in Need and Donation Lock Boxes
Funded Dec 4, 2024Your contribution has been so instrumental in the lives of my students. So many of my students families do not have the ability to purchase uniforms. Students come into my office almost every day for basic need supplies such as clothes, deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, etc. Your contribution has helped to make a difference in someone's school experience and provided a need in someone's life. My students feel that they can come to the counselor whenever they have a need and there doesn't have to shame attached to it. You've provided confidence and hope in their lives as well. Unfortunately, because my office is known to have so many supplies some people come in when I am out and remove items without my knowledge. The lock boxes have allowed me to secure donations to ensure that the students who need them are receiving them first. I thank you so much and so do my students!!!”

Funded Feb 22, 2024Being a counselor in an underserved and high needs area is not easy. We have less than 400 students at our school in grades K-8. It can seem like a small number, but when each and every one of them lacks many things that we deem ordinary or common, it becomes a lot. The lack of basic needs for these students is a direct correlation to the issues they face on a daily basis. These issues extend far beyond the school day and many times carryover into school. Some students do not have clean clothes or supplies to keep themselves clean. They may come to school with an odor because, honestly, cleanliness is the least of their worries. Your donation has made it possible for our school to be a support to parents who are overwhelmed and students who are doing their best to show up in spite of.
A student who had been bullied for his odor, let a staff member know he did not have deodorant and much soap where he lives. He has several siblings and his family is displaced at this time. I let that student know I was able to put together a package for him with toothpaste, soap, deodorant and more. He didn't say anything, but his face lit up with gratitude. He may have been relieved that it was one less thing his mom had to worry about. Or, he may have been grateful that someone took the time to not only see his need, but approach him with care and action. Either way, your donation made the difference for one student already and I'm sure, many more to come.”
