Help Support Students Learning Through Play
Funded Dec 19, 2024I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to my project. Your support has made such a meaningful difference, and I cannot thank you enough for helping bring joy and excitement into my speech and language sessions.
The fun activities and toys, particularly the PlayDoh and Mr. Potato Head, have been a huge hit with my students. Watching their faces light up as they engage with these creative toys has been truly heartwarming. The PlayDoh has sparked endless imaginative play, with students creating various objects to target vocabulary and other skills.
The Mr. Potato Head toys have also been a favorite. My students love the opportunity to create countless silly characters and use their imagination to build fun and unique faces. These activities have not only brought laughter and joy into my sessions but have also enhanced their expressive language and vocabulary. It's inspiring to see how these toys have encouraged both independent and collaborative play, and how the students eagerly share their creations with one another.
Thanks to your donation, the energy in my sessions has been vibrant and full of excitement. The students look forward to each new activity, and their enthusiasm is contagious. These toys have not only made learning more enjoyable but have also fostered a sense of community and connection among the students.
Once again, thank you for your incredible generosity. Your support has truly made a lasting impact on my students, and I am deeply appreciative of your contribution to their growth and happiness. We are so grateful to have your support, and I look forward to sharing more positive updates with you as we continue to enjoy these fun, enriching experiences. I would also like to thank PNC Private Bank® for providing their generous donation to this project!”
With gratitude,

Funded Feb 14, 2024I have been using the materials I received from your donations for my project on an everyday basis with my students. Most frequently I have used the iPad for a variety of purposes. One purpose is for the application Boomcards which is a learning platform that allows educators to create interactive decks that target a variety of different skills. My students have responded very well to the use of Boomcard decks and they have helped to target language skills including sentence expansion, vocabulary, spatial concepts, and answering WH questions. I have also downloaded sensory-friendly applications as a way to provide breaks to my students as well as to increase engagement during sessions. My students enjoy the interactive nature of the iPad and it has been a great motivator during my sessions.
Some particular students who have especially responded well to the use of the iPad are my students with autism spectrum disorder. The apps and activities on the iPad are able to catch their attention and keep them more engaged than other activities. With paper-based activities, it is often difficult to obtain student's attention, especially my younger students who struggle with joint attention. This asset also provides me with flexibility during my sessions to target a variety of skills and make changes throughout the session if I need to.
Again, thank you so much for your donations toward my project. My students and I are extremely grateful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Scott
