Comfy and Cozy Library Reading Corner
Funded Feb 4, 2024The students and staff at Masuk High School are ecstatic over the arrival of our new comfy chairs and coffee table! Since the moment we placed them in the library, the chairs have been occupied by students looking for a comfortable place to study, read or just relax. Once the chairs were unveiled, the students raced to sit in them! The first student to try it out actually fell asleep, she said it was so comfortable she could not resist a quick nap.
I placed the new chairs at the end of our fiction stacks. They help make the space look beautiful, but also cultivate an environment that encourages students to pick up a book and read. It has become a popular spot to do homework during and after school. Our library is open after school hours, so the students have a quiet and comfortable place to go and get work done if they are not able to go home. The chairs and coffee table provide the perfect location for a student to focus their attention and get their work done before they head home.
The comfy chairs have provided a place for students to work independently and also offer them the opportunity to take a break during the school day to relax and read a good book. I am hoping to add more collaborative furniture in this space in the future and look forward to expanding upon the beauty, comfort and function that the cozy chairs and coffee table provide our students and staff. Thank you so much for supporting my Donors Choose campaign and funding our Cozy Reading Corner!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Letko
