The Next Visionaries, We Are Creatives
Funded Jun 1, 2024Regardless of the subject you teach, allowing your students to tap into their creative sides in order to engage in the content is important. I was granted the opportunity to use the Cricut Maker and other materials for my summer school students. Even though they were attending summer school for biology, being able to access knowledge through artistic means was highly beneficial and exciting for my creatives!
When I initially brought the machine into class, they were curious to see how it worked. I showed them the process, and I let them run with it! We worked on mini projects where students designed stickers based on topics we discussed and learned about in class. My creatives designed stickers related to homeostasis, algal blooms and so much more. My summer school creatives were very excited to see their creations come to life; their creations made what they learned in class memorable and meaningful. For these reasons, I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to you all for helping me make this happen.”

I Can’t Hear, Do You Have Headphones?
Funded Apr 5, 2024I do not have the words to express how grateful I am for all of your help. My first year of teaching has been a whirlwind of good, bad, funny and sad. But, thankfully, I have had so much support in this journey of many journeys. I've found that the perfect potion to my success is my students, my dedication, and the people around me like you who all have my back.
Having headphones readily available to my students has been very helpful! Many of my students struggled to focus in class because of the excess volume, or multiple students playing their video activities at the same time. The dynamic of the class now has totally shifted. When I shared with them about how we got the equipment, they were both surprised and thankful. They felt the same support I felt; and it is all because of people like you. As I have said before, it takes a village.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Waker
