Eating Does a Body Good
Funded Jan 31, 2024Eating Does a Body Good helped my students by taking away the stress of not having enough to eat in order to maintain a chronic illness. We a diverse population of students with similar illnesses that require extra supplies to be kept at school. Since most students are from underserved communities surrounding the school, it can be complicated for families to provide extra food items to be kept at school. All though the school does order necessary supplies, most of the time they are very basic and usually not enough for the duration of the school year.
The struggle gets very real for these students and families with complex illnesses that require extra nutrition. Food Does a Body Good helped to keep these students at school and in class on a regular basis that would normally stay home due to lack of extra supplies for their chronic illness. This made such an impact on these students' ability to come to school knowing that they had extra resources for what they need in order to manage their disease process stress-free and the parents of most of these students are very grateful to the donors who contributed to this project and have expressed how it has helped them have peace of mind knowing that their child will receive what thy need while at school.”
With gratitude,
